Researchers from the ETH in Zürich (Switzerland) have developed an implantable device to monitor and treat obesity. They built a genetic circuit mainly out of human gene components. The system constantly monitors the circulating fat levels in the blood. When the blood-fat levels are too high, it is able to emit a messenger substance conveying a sense of satiety to the body.
