Extending the range of day surgery is a declared aim of the new coalition government, and reducing length of stay for surgical patients is the driver for the new Department of Health Enhanced Recovery Programme. Both of these factors in health policy are likely to start changing organisation and practice in surgical departments across the UK.
With this in mind the College has teamed up with the British Association of Day Surgery for a one-day conference focusing on the clinical and organisational implications, challenges and opportunities of this trend. Attendance is free of charge and recommended for surgeons and local NHS commissioners and managers.
